This page contains information to help individuals use CAD Drawings from Byce.
File Names
- All drawing files beginning with a number are final sheets.
- All drawing files beginning with a letter are drawings referenced by the final sheets.
- All drawing files must be placed in the same folder in order for the referenced drawings to work.
- For a more complete explanation of our file names go to File Names
Plotting
- Plot Table Files (.ctb) should be used to plot drawings with the desired line weights. (older versions of AutoCAD & other CAD programs do not support plot tables.)
- AutoCAD fonts (.shx) must be placed either in the same folder as the drawings or in your AutoCAD fonts folder (typically "C:\Program Files\ACADxxx\FONTS\").
- True Type fonts (.ttf) must be installed as Windows fonts in order for AutoCAD to use, and the byce Drawings to appear properly.
If you do not have these fonts on your system they can be installed by copying them to your fonts directory, typically found in your operating systems directory.
Example: C:\Windows\Fonts.
- Any files listed above should have been included with our CAD files but if you need them go to our download page.
Compressed (zipped) Files
- If you receive our files as a .zip file(s) the file will contain one or more compressed files and a utility like WinZIP is needed to extract the files.
If you need such a utility, go to our download page (Many new operating systems such as Windows XP include a utility that will uncompress zip files).
Release 14 or previous Files
- If drawings were requested in a release previous to AutoCAD 2000 the drawings will be converted to that previous release. There are a few minor known incompatibilities with text and possibly more unknown. These files should only be used for reference.
Plot Files
- If drawings were requested as plot files (.plt) the files were created using a driver for a specific print device. If they are printed using a different device, the output may be incorrect. Most plotters use a similar language and therefore plt files usually give acceptable results,
however Byce & Associates, Inc. cannot guarantee proper output from these files.
